The Premier League is Back
What It Is: This past weekend brought the return of one of the most popular sports leagues in the world, the English Premier League. With games often reaching over 600 million viewers, far more than leagues like the NFL, soccer, especially the Premier League, has a strong global presence across every continent. In the United States specifically the growth has been exponential, with the league now flaunting 45+ million fans - reaching 1 in 5 American adults. This has been accredited to the accessibility of the league and the effective job that it has done striking deals for broadcast rights overseas. However, it’s hard to also look past the impending 2026 World Cup and just completed 2025 Club World Cup both taking place on American soil.
Brand Takeaway: If your brand is looking to reach and engage with Premier league fans, lay the groundwork of your participation in the fandom, and activate on smaller moments in the league that are still relevant to the larger conversation. Though the World Cup may be 10 months away, participating in Premier League’s return will allow time for your brand to gain respect and acknowledgement from the fans; in turn setting the expectation that you’ll be a brand to look to for soccer references in the future. When engaging any group of fans on social, it’s important to earn respect and establish yourself as a fellow fan first.
