Quick Someone Make This An Edit

What It Is: “Quick someone make this an edit”. A simple, yet effective, call to action for the viewer of a video - and one that has resulted in millions of impressions across thousands of TikTok accounts. In a trend sweeping the FYP, users are openly requesting that others take their video and create an edit with it. Reminiscent, and possibly an evolution, of the unexpected edit trend from 2024, these videos are incredibly simple to make as the majority of the work is done by those subsequently creating the final edit. Typically, the initial video hints towards what the edit may be before trailing off towards the end, allowing for the creator to seamlessly transition into their execution of the edit request.
Brand Takeaway: This trend is interesting to think about from a brand perspective, especially when thinking about UGC. For some brands it may be hard to find UGC suitable for their official page, or even UGC in general - and this trend presents a potential fix. While typically a brand asking their followers to do something may come off as desperate or cringey, this places the request in a social first scenario changing the context around it. As opposed to simply saying something like “send to the first person who pops up when you click share!”, this trend invites the user to participate in something larger, and publicly, as others begin to share their versions of the edit.
