What It Is: Social users have begun gamifying their lives in an attempt to bring a level of whimsy and motivation to their schedules. In this latest trend, users typically hit a pose reminiscent of a video game character on the completion screen of a level, before posting “stats” they’ve recorded throughout the day. These stats are typically comical (Hydration: mild, Meals eaten: 0) making light of what could otherwise be a monotonous, boring day.
Brand Takeaway: This trend may initially appear light-hearted, but it may hold a deeper meaning. With the constant gamification of life, it’s clear that people have been searching for motivation and the simple joys in the world. With constant negativity, controversy and conflict occurring right now, life can be hard - hence why we need to celebrate the little things. While reaching “hydration: level 4” can seem simple, this can also bring a level of accomplishment. As a brand, think about you may be able to assist your userbase or followers in finding those simple joys.
