What it is: Gen Z is moving away from "hustle" wellness culture, pushing the fitness industry into a more authentic "soft life" era. This doesn't mean Gen Z doesn't take health seriously-- they're drinking less than other generations and walking more. It means that they reject the "Goopification" of millennial wellness that equates health to killing yourself over a workout and perfect acai bowls.
What we can learn: This shift is the most relevant for any brand within the health and wellness space, but it's also just another example of Gen Z's overall push toward authenticity. The health and wellness shift is huge because it could mean a real pushback against the aesthetic over science wellness industry built Millenials in the past 10 or so years. If you're in the wellness space, definitely keep an eye out and consider a tonal shift to accommodate this change.

Gen Z says the thumbs-up emoji is passive-aggressive and you know what? They're right.
