#SocialMediaWeek: It wrapped up yesterday! Peep @Adweek's feed for a feel of the whole event.
How brands can jump in: Even if you and your brand weren't involved, you can express FOMO about it or engage with the super active Adweek Twitter team about how you're totally in for next year.

parenthetical realness
What it is: Users on TikTok are using the song "Stargirl Interlude" by the Weeknd to share the lies they tell themselves about romantic interests. The trend involves declaring a romantic interest in the overlayed text and then exposing yourself as lying in the following parentheses. Ex: "I'm having a torrid love affair (we talked two times on Snapchat)."
How brands can jump in: While brands can't necessarily use the song attached to this trend, the text component is recognizable enough that it works as a Twitter text joke, or a TikTok video with a different sound. If you're a savory cracker brand, you could do a POV of the product saying "I'll never forget the time parmesan and I shared together (we collabed literally one time in 2007)."
Examples: 1, 2, 3
Urgency level: Medium. The trend is starting to gain steam, but hasn't been oversaturated yet.
What it is: Jack in the Box, a fast food brand famous on the West Coast for their tacos, spicy fries, and eccentric mascot, is having a virtual *moment*. On May 11th, Jack and the Box shared an Instagram post announcing that a new location has opened up on Twitch. (???)
Why we love it: The announcement features the beloved "Jack", proudly standing behind a counter, ready to serve the customer. If you follow the link in the caption, you'll arrive at the only virtual Jack in the Box, featuring an authentic drive thru simulation with all the glitz and glamour and none of the exhaust fumes. There, you'll be prompted to scan a QR code to redeem an exclusive offer. This campaign comes in response to high gas prices, and we love a brand that successfully meets us where many of us are-- at home.
