Mercury In Retrograde Coded
What it is: It's that time of year again where Mercury is in Retrograde! In scientific terms, this means that Mercury is moving slower than Earth around the sun instead of it's typical faster pace. For those who follow astrology, Mercury rules communication, travel, news, gossip, and technology, so with the planet moving at a slower pace, people find that errors and mishaps can occur in those aspects of their lives. Users and brands have taken a variety of approaches to this trend from putting out a message from the universe to tying it back to a recent Taylor Swift quote where she said something was “Mercury in Retrograde Coded” which simply means the act of using subtext to code a character, situation, or moment in culture as being affected by Mercury in Retrograde.
How brands can jump in: Is there a comforting message that your brand can put out to aid to those experiencing mercury in retrograde? Is there a brand or character behavior to tap into that shows how Mercury in Retrograde coded (aka prone to things not going right)? Jump in and show off your bad (or good) luck during this time of year.
Examples: 1, 2, 3
Urgency level: ☀️ - just like the surface of the sun, this trend is hot! Mercury in retrograde only lasts until May 14 and won't come back until August so act soon!
