What it is: If you've been in the comment section lately, you might have noticed some comments like "Only in Ohio" or "dogs from Ohio." This catchphrase has caught fire across all platforms with people associating anything scary or out of the norm with Ohio. If you remeber the Florida Man meme, this is much like that. Essentially, Ohio has become the Florida of the midwest, where all weird things you might experience like a freaky looking dog are all just considered "normal" for Ohio.
How brands can jump in: This is more for educational purposes when doing community management, but could possibly be used for copy where it makes sense and for the right audience!

“dupe”
What it is: Back in the day (ew), I remember kids being made fun of for wearing off brand vans or UGGs. Nowadays, the word "off brand" has changed to "dupe" and teens go crazy for them. It shows that Get Z is not only more accepting, but is also willing to share when their high end products are dupes and they don’t gatekeeper where they got them either (#dupe has amassed 2.1B views).
What we can learn: While the products some teens buy might not be authentic, the teens themselves will be. They aren't hiding the fact they buy dupes, they are embracing it, being honest, and authentic. It's important for brands to takeaway that teens hold authenticity and honesty above everything, even when they know not everyone will agree with them.
