#Taurus: Happy Taurus Szn!! Taurus are tweeting their zodiac pride on the first day of the season with memes and horoscopes.
How brands can jump in: If your brand is an astrology buff, a self-proclaimed Taurus, or just wanting to join the conversation—you can identify and assign Taurus traits to your products or lean into consumer behaviors that align with this Taurus energy.
#420day: 4/20 is a nationally recognized day on which cannibas use is celebrated. Twitter users are bringing their love for THC to the feed in simple, yet humorous ways.
How brands can jump in: While this hashtag is far from brand safe for most, the holiday in question can still be a high-level theme in your content today. Push past directly calling out 420 by leaning into the behaviors associated with it (vegging out & munchies come to mind). Are you a snack food brand? Can today be the "perfect" day to stock up on your favorites? Make sure all content, whatever your lane may be, airs on the side of caution for your client.
Oakland: The Oakland A's are packing their bags and heading to Vegas...permanently. This MLB team entered an agreement to build a $1B stadium on 49 acres of land and user sentiment is less than positive.
How brands can jump in: Is your brand in the MLB space? Sports in general? It's likely you'll be catching wind of this major move on the feed today. You can join the discussion by proclaiming neutral sentiment around this breaking news, or simply engage with brand safe tweets to reinforce your role in the Twitter baseball community.

men. DO. NOT. have.
What it is: In this trend, Twitter users are starting their tweets with "men. DO. NOT. have." followed by a particular attribute or possession in a *tongue in cheek* way. The humor lies in the false accusation knowing that it will likely prompt other users to prove them wrong in the replies. This trend is entirely satircal and is in no way meant to imply that individuals do not possess anything of value or importance.

How brands can jump in: This trend, native to the gay side of Twitter, is starting to outgrow its intended audience. While brands cannot use the photo of Sasha Colby (sad!), there are still opportunities to win over Twitter with this format. You can call attention to fans in general, get creative by challenging their brand fan status with a specific consumer behaviors or acknowledge the brand/product insights. Most importantly, the challenge here is to tap in without losing the humor of it all. Take this format and make it your own.
Examples: 1, 2, 3
Urgency level: Med 🔥 This trend has been picking up speed in the past 24 hours, but we haven’t seen it evolve to reach the masses just yet. If not now, this is a fun format to keep in your back pocket for evergreen opportunities.

Brands are facing backlash for LGBTQ+ influencer partnerships.
What it is: A recent Bud Light campaign, featuring transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, has resulted in unrelenting scrutiny from anti-LGBTQ+ consumers and activists. With the heightened social and political climate surrounding LGBTQ+ issues, conservatives continue speaking out against brands that partner with LGBTQ+ influencers and campaigns with prominent queer themes. While some take to threatening companies (and their employees) on social, others are boycotting and vandalizing products in stores. Now, more than ever, brands are being called up to reinforce their social values with firm support.
What we can learn: After the CEO of Anheuser-Busch, Brendan Whitworth broke his silence in an inconclusive statement, attacks on the brand ensued from both left and right-wing demos. With social issues at the forefront, brands are expected to hold a strong position, regardless of where their support lies. Trying to play both sides of the fence leaves all impacted communities more confused, angry, and motivated to boycott. Moving forward, brands should align on their values before taking to social, and make peace with losing the customers who do not see eye to eye.
