What it is: This trend was born from a series of street interviews on TikTok where the interviewer asks people if they want to take a dollar or want the interviewer to double it and give it to the next person. Most people choose the second option and the amount of money keeps growing and growing until there’s that one person who decides to take the money for themselves.
This trend became very popular on TikTok and the phrase “double it and give it to the next person” has now grown into slang on the app. You may notice people commenting the phrase on random videos on the app, as it has now become a way of saying they don’t like/want something or that they cannot relate to the subject matter.
How brands can jump in: Because the phrase has become so popular, you can jump onto this trend in two ways. 1) Make your own version of the original video 2) use the phrase in your comments, as a tweet, as a caption, or just as a way to communicate to your audience.
