Roller skates are BACK!
What it is: In the host of hobbies picked up by GenZ, Zillenials, Millenials, and the like during covid, we've seen roller skates/blades make a major comeback – and better than ever. Across TikTok you can see countless videos (1.6B under the hashtag #rollerskating, to be exact) of everyone in colorful outfits and bright skates gliding down the westside highway, jumping through skateparks, or soaring across Venice beach.
How brands can jump in: Think about the nostalgia that fans are leaning into these days and the way it can be applied to your brand. Skate brands such as Impala Skates have really leaned into the bright and bold 80s aesthetic that’s coming back with these – if you are a brand that likes to lean into nostalgia, how can you apply the same tactic.
Examples: 1, 2, 3
Urgency level: Mild/Medium – they’re back, and back for a bit, but we bet their time in the internet spotlight will come to an end sometime.

What it is: Who said horizontal videos on TikTok don't work? Well... they work if you're videos are Disney story-worthy.
Why we love it: Gamander López, a 20-year-old wildlife filmmaker, and photographer has been sharing his tranquil nature videos to TikTok for a little over 2 years. Over the last year, López's videos have started to gather millions of views. How? He uses the first few seconds of his videos to hook the viewer in by telling them about a moment or animal in nature he is trying to capture. He then prompts the viewer to turn their phones and experience the moment with him. Usually, asking users on social media to turn their phones would result in an instant scroll away from the content, but for López and his viewers, it's a moment to connect with the world he is seeing behind the lens. Users almost feel like they are missing out on a secret moment by not turning their phones and staying for the whole video. For López, nature is his niche and it's working.

This video on how Disney's animated hair became so realistic is pretty neat!
