what i need right now: hugssssss
What it is: In this trend, Twitter users are mostly tweeting the base format of this trend as seen in the example, where the ‘s’ continue into something beyond just a hug. This is a light, simple, and aesthetically engaging format that provides little room for improvisation. However, 7-Eleven showed that this trend can be ownable for brands in the space.
How brands can jump in: Jump in and join those calling for more hugs, or keep it light with ownable puns that center your brand experience. Don't be afraid to reflect consumer insights back to the audience as part of this trend, but remember to keep it simple.

Urgency level: Like your pasta water, this one is still heating up but could also boil over at any moment -- just keep an eye on it for now

What it is: Twitter Marketing explored a deep dive into the evolving world of real-time, limited offer, e-commerce. With the capabilities of new platforms, it's easy to deliver products to fans for purchase in as many as 3-4 clicks. Furthermore, by releasing these products in real-time, you leverage the conversation while it may be at its peak. Consider e-com as part of any large activation as a means to drive hype and awareness, as well as long-term brand affinity following the activation.
What we can learn: Given the quick-turn nature of this, limited # of products, simplicity of the product is key if quick-turn execution is the end goal. However, e-commerce can also be planned out methodically and presents a unique opportunity within social platforms currently carrying e-com capabilities from a content perspective, as it's never been easier to create engaging 'pseudo' campaign imagery. Brands should always consider specialty items as scarcity is endemic to the internet, easily understood, and hype is typically accepted — but you will have to do some groundwork to establish your brand in any niche community you're hoping to reach.
