We’re Having a Cowboy Moment 🤠
What it is: Western style suddenly feels demographically inclusive and stylistically modern in the many ways as it continues to infiltrate fashion and culture. Its roaring return can be seen in entertainment, media, and fashion. Pop culture subjects like Yellowstone, Beyoncé, and Barbie are just a few instances that point to the renewed fascination. But is this so new? Cowboy culture rides in and out of style every few years as consumers seem to love storylines that are wildly exciting, authentic, and rugged. Western tropes seem seeded everywhere these days - from #coastalcowgirl TikTok to the sea of cowboy boots and hats adorned by fans at the Eras or Renaissance Tours. Even luxury brands like Prada are harkening back to the Old West. Coming out of the pandemic, millions of people have turned to linen shirts, boots, hats, and denim shorts as a sense of escape. Cowboy culture beckons a freeing picture of open air and rows of pines. The big idea: western experience seems within reach with its style feels attainable and easy to make your own.
What brands can learn: With cult classic styles always finding new ways of being loved, it’s no surprise that cowboy culture is back. It's a way for individuals to define what "yeehaw" means to them. We're not telling you to westernize your brand, but it’s interesting to note how cowboy culture has its various interpretations. For some, it's a form of modern-day “camp” style complete with humor, theatricality, and a sense of self-aware irony. For others, it's a light, soft, and breezy fashion choice in a serious world. Either way, we're having a cultural moment that's irrefutably freeing & fun.
