In the remix of Girl, So Confusing, Charli collaborates with longtime frenemy and music rival Lorde. In the song, the two women appear to solve their issues by admitting they do not know if they are liked by the other. Fans of both musicians praise them for solving their issues and coming together for music's sake. It is from this situation that the trend "work it out on the remix" is trending. The phrase is being used by Gen Z to bring together people or things that have historically clashed in the hopes that they will "work it out on the remix.”
What brands can learn: This is a fun way to bring some light-hearted humor to your brand. Perhaps you use the phrase in a reply to one of your followers, use it to tease a collab with another brand, or further the personality of your social media manager by creating some fun tension between them and someone else. Trends like this one are a great way to not just jump into a timely hot convo but to further develop any storylines and in-depth narratives of your social persona online. Additionally, the popularity of this trend points to users being less interested in internet feuds and more interested in seeing their resolutions. Any can have internet beef, but not everyone can overcome it (on the remix, no less).
