"Bang Bang" (2014) Single Art
What it is: 2014's "Bang Bang" was sort of the "Lady Marmalade" of the 2010s and saw Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj come together for a pop music collaboration whose lore is steeped in internet jokes (see: tweets pointing out recycled photos of its three contributors). Nearly a decade after the release of "Bang Bang," people have repeatedly repurposed its trisected single art as a visual format to showcase a thesis of three memes in place of the single's trio of stars. Featuring anything from trending TikToks to brand products, this format is sure to 🎶blow your miiiiind🎶 for its ability to synthesize multiple subjects in a clever, casual way.
What brands can learn: This is an evergreen one for brands who lean into pop culture moments or whose fans might recognize, and appreciate, a piece of 2010s pop archaeology. More generally, it also speaks to social users' tendency to make sense of the internet by relating multiple memes of the week in a super literal way. Brands can speak to such a chronically-online crowd by showing up in expected ways and not taking themselves too seriously in the process. If you have a Canva account and a dream, this format could be the way in for your brand!
