Protect Taylor Swift: In the latest AI-based controversy, some lewd AI-generated photos spread on the internet of the pop star. Her fans are calling for people to stop making, spreading, or engaging with harmful materials.
Mitch McConnell: X users are upset that McConnell seems to be changing his mind on certain things since Trump is the presumed 2024 Republican nominee.

stans 🤝 snubs
What it is: On Tuesday morning, Barbie was nominated for eight Academy Awards. Some found the omissions of Greta Gerwig from Best Director and Margot Robbie shocking and inexcusable due to the cultural and financial impact of the film. Despite both women receiving nominations in different categories (screenplay and picture, respectively), average fans entered the chat with rage and fire. The dam started to break when a Swiftie published a photo of Margot next to Spotify lyrics from Taylor Swift's "The Man." Some immediately began calling out that the five people nominated over Margot in Best Actress were indeed *not men* leading to a tweet firestorm. Some shared their extremely silly snubs like Snoop (The Dog from Anatomy of a Fall) and aliens (Alien from Asteroid City) next to lyrics from other songs. Some leaned into the babygirl nature of the internet and even used the lyrics next to monsters, implying that even the most scaly girls miss Best Actress (Godzilla Minus One.)
What brands can learn: Oscar Noms usually make waves on the internet. Many who have followed the race were not shocked by these specific omissions, but casual fans will quickly latch onto conversations around their favorites. Despite the understanding of those in the punditry scene that Greta and Margot were on shaky ground, stans will always start a larger conversation. While these conversations can be interesting, drama-filled, and at times, funny, it's important to note that translating art into awards can quickly turn into mud-slinging. We've seen stans repeatedly tear down other artists to promote their favs. This is especially prominent among pop divas stans on Twitter that quickly turn to personal and hateful jabs at each other's favs. While it can be enticing to jump into these conversations, as they often dominate the social sphere, it can quickly lead to a fire spiraling out of control. Large corporations commenting on stan wars often lead to more drama by emboldening fans and exposing these accounts to larger audiences. At the end of the day, when we inspire more stan hatred, the art and the artists on each side are the ultimate losers. Sometimes we should sit on the sidelines and let stan Twitter work it out themselves.
