What it is: TikTok accounts are using >>> in their photo carousels as a simple CTA for people to swipe to the end of the post. The brackets are often placed on a solid-colored background and precede an unexpected message that either pays off for swipers as a final thought or encourages them to share the post with another person. Quickly moving from essentially zero context to everything you need to know, this format piques interest long enough to stop people in their scroll and almost guarantees that those same people will stick around to hear your message at the very end.
What brands can learn: This format can be molded to showcase a message about virtually anything. Whether brands want to reveal a new product, emphasize a fan insight or land a joke, using >>> before that main point will create buildup and make people want to see it through. It's also a super casual format that alleviates seriousness and feels friendly for a platform like TikTok.
