Fan Edits
What it is: Fan edits are fan-made videos typically set to music that slice together clips of a celebrity or character and feature visual effects such as filters and transitions. Originally stemming from Fancams (concert footage focusing on a single member of a band, usually while the group is performing) largely popularized by K-pop fans, edits can pay homage to a wide range of subjects and allow fans to express their creativity and connect with others while stanning their faves. They're digital art, an essential expression of fandoms circulated far and wide, and a huge pillar of internet culture.
What brands can learn: Brands, if you have a product or character you want to showcase, why not feature it in a snappy 15-second video that fans can stan and help circulate across social? Anything can be made into a fan edit (see: Starbucks' edit of their viral lemon loaf), so pick out some background music, some sparkly transitions and have fun with your audience. It can create scroll-stopping moments, and fans will appreciate you speaking their internet love language.
