i remember when…
What it is: Most people want to forget all the cringe and embarrassing things they've done, whether because they liked someone, were very young, or didn't know better. This trend is about bringing those moments back by resurfacing videos or photos of those embarrassing moments and explaining their reasons. The trend began with people posting embarrassing things they've done to impress their crushes, but it grew into others jumping in with all kinds of reasons why they've gone full-on cringe. Though the song Crazy by Gnarls Barkley is used, you can use any song as the most important thing about the trend is just how unhinged what you're sharing is.
What brands can learn: Social users today aren't afraid to embrace the cringe. They’re sharing an embarrassing memory, cringe moment, or wild story. Their stories are celebrated by many who are inspired to share their unique memories. While brands spend a lot of time curating the perfect image online, it's important to remember that a great way to relate to an audience and be seen as more than just a corporation on social, is to be vulnerable. So, if your brand ever made a cringe (but harmless) mistake or had a funny fail, be sure to jump into this trend.
