What it is: Dress To Impress is a game on Roblox where a player chooses a theme and others dress their character to fit it. Themes range from 'princess' to 'brat' leaving the interpretation up to the players and judge. This game has been blowing up all over TikTok and YouTube. Some people post looks they felt should've won, and some outfits have developed lore within the game. The creator of the server added lore to the game aiding the social media hype the game is getting.
What brands can learn: Gaming is a huge area of opportunity for younger audiences, and brands can take notes on how the vertical has designed aspects to branch out into social. We know that younger generations are all about customization and personalization and Roblox tapped right into that niche and made the game easily shareable. While brands could tap directly into this conversation by considering partnerships with Roblox to add their unique items to the game or create a "The category is ___" lookbook on TikTok and Instagram that nods at the hype, it’s more important to focus on the aspects of this that are resonating with consumers. This is an interesting hybrid of personalization and crowd-sourcing. While the creativity stems from your interests and desires, there’s also open conversation with friends online about your look, taking the game and trend beyond a solo outing to a group adventure.
