TikTok Comments That Make The Video Funnier

What It Is: People are highlighting their favorite recurring comments under popular TikToks, with many pointing out that they are even funnier than the original video. These phrases originate from popular slang and online references, and they are racking up thousands of engagements from people who would have left the same reply if someone hadn’t beaten them to the punch. For example, you’re more than likely to see multiple duplicates of hits like, “Me when I lie,” “Do you do weddings,” and “Who is this DIVA” when skimming the comments of a viral TikTok. It’s safe to say that comment sections now have trends of their own, and users are purposefully congregating there for a good, collective laugh.
Brand Takeaway: TikTok users are now entertained just as much by replies as by actual posts, and it’s important for brands to similarly adopt this mindset. While brands should familiarize themselves with these trending phrases so they have a baseline knowledge of how people are currently speaking in comment sections, they should also evaluate from there if borrowing this language makes sense for them and their audience. People can spot a brand’s misplaced attempt to sound current from a mile away, and brands need to authentically sound like the comment sections they’re engaging with to resonate. Take part in the fun if you know how to use these phrases in the right context or “just put the fries in the bag” and keep it moving.
