What It Is: TikTokers are using the phrase “hey” as a reason to point out the things they love that are worthy of running to (or from). Whether it’s caesar salad, spaghetti, matcha lattes, cats, or one’s ex, people are jokingly highlighting the things they’re willing to risk it all for in the moment. The trend often highlights people’s favorite niche interests specific to their personality or something that universally unites them with other like-minded followers. Opposite to their likes are, of course, as mentioned, those awkward situations users would be quick to run away from and avoid. This simple execution is a humorous way to highlight the duality of both these occurrences depending on how someone chooses to approach it.
Brand Takeaway: Brands, consumers always love a simple way to communicate what they love & hate. The act of running itself is such a powerful, visual tool that TikTok has used to demonstrate this spectrum of strong emotion and self expression. This format could be a great way to add some subtle humor to your feed while rallying all those consumers & followers that can relate. Seeing a human truth come to life on a brand’s feed is a surefire way to humanize your brand and start conversation amongst your fans. It seems this trend is in its early stages so hop on it now to inspire others on social media to do the same.
