People are Asking ChatGPT to “Roast” Their Instagram Profiles

What It Is: Have you ever been curious about how you’re perceived online — maybe even a little afraid to ask a friend? If the answer is yes, this trend might be for you. Social users are asking ChatGPT to “Roast” their Instagram profile and give them the honest, brutal truth about the feed they’ve curated. Some have stopped simply at asking it for initial thoughts and feedback, but others have taken it a step further and prompted the artificial intelligence to “be mean about it.” The results can be helpful and hilariously brutal — even the Australian Ballet's feed got thoroughly roasted.
Brand Takeaway: It might seem silly, but an uptick in people asking ChatGPT for an objective read on their profiles signals that people put at least some stock into what AI has to say about them, and how it can help them on social. From trends like this one to AI filters found on CapCut, AI has firmly integrated itself into the world of social as both a source of entertainment and a tool used by the masses. The use cases range from people prompting AI for crazy things like creating a Utah Mom final boss, or asking it to turn users' photos into Bratz dolls, or showing how they would look pregnant — to simply asking it for help with a caption suggestion.
As always, brands should take caution when using AI and understand the nuances of this constantly evolving technology and the conversations around it. Make sure your brand considers how using AI plays into their specific subject matter on social before jumping on AI-related trends. Whether for utilitarian asks or pure fun, brands should strategically take advantage of the tools at hand while being mindful of how it shows up in their content.
