Anyone Know How To Get Our New Header To Fit?
What It Is: As we know, the dimensions of an X (Twitter) header are unique. With the image needing to be wider than it is tall, it’s typically hard to utilize normal vertically shot content in this space - and the latest trend hitting the “for you” tab on the platform has addressed this head on. First gaining traction over the past weekend, users are sharing a photo that they’d like to make their banner image before then quote-tweeting their own tweet with simple copy that reads something like “nvm figured it out”. This initially may seem like the conclusion to a quick question from a user, but in actuality it’s just bait for you to visit the page and see the final product. Though, final product isn’t what was advertised - the twist being that the new header is instead a commentary on the original photo. For example, trying to fit a picture of Lebron James into your header before actually utilizing a picture of a goat.
Brand Takeaway: For brands wanting to participate in this trend there are infinite unique and ownable ways in. But more importantly than participating it it, this trend shows that no part of your profile is useless. While a header may not be the first thing you think to change when launching a campaign, it is an underutilized profile aspect in which you can deliver messaging. Additionally, a trend like this shows the impact engagement bait can have - in this case forcing users to visit your entire profile home page to see the payoff. Moving forward, continue to think of what profile features go unused and slept on, these could just be your next viral moment.
